Lockout is a work stoppage in which an employer prevents employees from working. This is different from a strike, in which employees refuse to work.
No matter the difference, this is one word that NFL fans do no want to hear.
In a letter to the players that was seen by the Associated Press, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said the union had an “internal deadline” for agreeing to a new collective bargaining agreement.
“That deadline has now passed,” he wrote. “It is important that you protect yourself and your family.”
The word lockout for the most popular sport in America comes at a time when the American public needs sports the most.
