The Central Florida women's volleyball season begins this Friday, Aug. 28, at The Venue, and this is no ho-hum season.
The black and gold's 2009 edition features eight rookies, and second-year head coach Todd Dagenais is in command.
In 2008, he led the squad to a 15-17 record, the best since 2003, and a 6-10 C-USA record, the best finish in school history.
Dagenais has a lot of expectations for this year's Lady Knights, including finishing in the top 75 in the country. They also have a tough schedule including matches against teams such as No. 11 Purdue, No. 13 Tulane (C-USA), and No. 22 UAB (C-USA), and 16 games at home.
A C-USA championship seems quite out of reach, but Dagenais is trying to take it one step at a time.
“All I know is that all we can do is prepare week-by-week for whatever we have in front of us,” he told UCFathletics.com.
With all the newcomers to the team, a star player dominated UCF squad is highly unlikely. This is the year of team.
